The yearbook is going to be great! The design and photography is a good improvement over past years and the teamwork shown was excellent. There are a couple of pages I'm still missing and I need to finalize everything today. Here is a rundown of missing pages. If you're working on these, please make contact with me today:
Pixel Art Tutorial - Illustrator from Ryan Quintal on Vimeo. QuintalDesigns.com HD Video tutorial exclusive. This Video Tutorial shows you how to create the popular 8-bit pixel art effect found all over the internet in complete Adobe Illustrator vector glory. The Technique uses the blend tool, pathfinder, and the Live Paint tool. The PM class has five days to finish up design work on this year's yearbook. The designs that I'm seeing show that a lot of care has been taken and the designs look well thought out. The photography looks strong and the page designs are very creative and carry a consistent theme. Try to get your pages backed up early this week in case of hard drive disaster. It is very important that you're letting Synchs occur every day. Before Friday ALL pages need to either be uploaded to the Proofs folder on Tucker's Resources or put on the external drive in the back row.
Seniors - you should be working on the reflection papers and your presentations for the senior project. Juniors - a job shadow has to occur before the end of April - so if haven't planned yours yet, get started today! 9th & 10th grade students - we'll be finishing up designs on both the gum package and t-shirt early this week and try to get screens made for everyone by week's end. We'll be working on some typography skills this week so that we can jazz up the type on your shirt design. Everyone - make sure that you're documenting your work in your learning journals. I'm posting journal comments on PowerSchool every week. Let me know if you have problems, questions or concerns about the journaling project we are doing. I will not be in today and here is a breakdown of tasks I want you to work on while I'm at CAT Brandywine for the day.
AM Class: Complete your gum package design. Use the Illustrator skills we have been working on for the past week. If you need a review check out my learning journal links to the right of this post. Make sure you post a screen capture to your journal before the end of class. If you're finished your design, work on a the t-shirt project design. Melissa - please take some action photos of AM Carpentry around 8:30 this morning if possible. PM Class: Continue to work on yearbook pages and copy packaged finished pages to the external drive in the back row. If you need help packaging pages, Caitliin and Carly both can help you. Make sure that you have preflighted your pages. If you're not sure of the settings, check out my Learning Journal for exact settings. Seniors - review the jobs that we did for NOCTI prep. Seniors can work on their senior projects and Juniors should be working on updating their ePortfolios so that a job shadow section is either complete or at least ready to accept the data you'll collect for your job shadow. Make sure you document what you've worked on today by posting a journal entry before class ends. Make sure all photo equipment is locked away before the end of the day. We're making good progress on the yearbook as we're coming down the stretch. This week's focus will be on taking the last of the needed photos which include class officers, AM shop candid pictures and pictures of the loadup of the 2012 Food Fight Philabundance Campaign.
PM students will continue working on page designs, color correcting images and packaging finished pages to Tucker's Resources. All photos need to be taken by the end of this week. AM students will be working on Typography skills this week and applying typographic and color theory to their gum package design projects. Skills we'll be working on include identifying and applying contrast to font and color choices and using Illustrator to start expanding the thumbnail drawings you did last week. |
